Hollywood Vampires Pay Tribute To Lemmy

by Jody Haskins for The Laguna Spectator

The supergroup Hollywood Vampires will play live at this year’s Grammy Awards show on February 15.  The supergroup features Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Duff McKagan and Johnny Depp.  For this show only Matt Sorum will contribute on drums.  This will be the band’s television debut and it will come in front of a worldwide audience.

Hollywood VampiresThe band will play a tribute to the legendary Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead. Lemmy passed away earlier this year and he was a very good friend of Alice Cooper.  Alice Cooper hinted that they might perform “Ace of Spades”. The Grammys telecast will also give the band a chance to perform a new original song, “As Bad As I Am,” which will appear as a bonus track on the upcoming deluxe edition of Hollywood Vampires’ 2015 debut.

The Hollywood Vampires is a tribute in itself to Alice Cooper’s “Dead Drunk Friends“.Some of those friends included: Jim Morrison, John Lennon and Keith Moon.  All the bands members of are recovering alcoholics and their individual experiences with demon alcohol inspire their lyrics.

I don’t think I have watched one second of the Grammy’s in my life.  The Grammy awards are more bogus than the so called “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”.  The way the Grammy’s have treated hard rock and metal is a disgrace.  While they bend over backwards to accept and mainstream hip hop and rap, they have virtually ignore hard rockers.

I will DVR this show and scan through everything except the performance by the Hollywood Vampires and any tributes to David Bowie, Glenn Frey, Paul Kantner, Signe Anderson.
